Here are some photos of the Santa Barbara State Street Mile skating race held on June 8, 1996. Race Times: Joel Bott 2:22, Mike Magne 2:22, Steve Malik 2:23.

Derek (D.D.) Parra, a world class speedskater is shown below on the left. He started skating as a kid at Stardust Skating Rink in San Bernardino, CA. His first coach there, George Cottone, is very proud of him. Another superskater, Dante Muse, is on the right.
