count towards the AIS season points total.

| July ?
Flagstaff, AZ AIS downhill (luge, standup, inline)
This is slated to run a 1 mile (approximate) course with nice natural turns. AIS is still planning this, and more details are to follow. (602)677-9511 |
| July - November
West LA College Inline GS and Skates and Gates Slalom
This will be the seventh year for this skate-to-ski type series. There will be several Sundays again this year, dates TBD. This is a good simulation of alpine ski racing right in LA. Cheap (under $10), great location, lots of fun and excellent training for all levels. There are separate courses for beginners and advanced skaters, and a big parking lot. Skateboards are always welcome, too. scottpeer@aol.com |
| July 31?
Mammoth Lakes, CA Inline and skateboard giant slalom.
This event is still in it's early planning phase. It should include a giant
slalom and possibly more events at the Canyon Lodge, on a 1/4 mile hill in the parking lot. It should be suited to new racers as well as pros, and may allow racers to compete without leathers in some of the competitions.

| Aug 7?
LA area, CA FIGR dual downhill sprint (skateboard, inline)
This should be a fun race, and the $35 entry will include lots of goodies, like T shirts and a BBQ. The top speeds will only be around 45mph, making it a good entry level race, although there will be both pro and amateur divisions. (949)722-1800x26 (Beau Brown) |
| Aug 28-29 Glendora Mtn. Road, CA RAIL Triple Crown (7 mi, luge + inline) This is the classic course! Inline downhill should run on a 3 mile section, with some tough switchbacks. This is suitable for experienced downhillers only, it is much more challenging and dangerous than any of the 1998 US races. http://www.streetluge.com/ |
| TBD Mammoth Lakes, CA Mammoth Downhill Skate Festival (1.3mi)
The second year of this event will have limited inline entries. The course is a real thigh burner, with times over 2 minutes, all tucking. The turns are easy, and speeds not very high (mostly under 50). The pavement is fairly rough and has cracks to add challenge. At an elevation of 8000 feet the air is cool and clear, and the scenery is beautiful.

California? AIS Record Madness (inline, luge, standup, GPV, ...)
The location and permits are in progress. This will hopefully be the event to break the 70 mph barrier. Plus a downhill with some gnarly switchback turns is anticipated on the same weekend. (Note: this is not an entry level race). (602)677-9511 |
